President Trump Delays Mexico and Canada Tariffs for One Month Under USMCA

Other reciprocal tariffs will still take effect on April 2.

President Donald Trump announced that tariffs will be paused on everything that is included in the United States, Mexico, Canada (USMCA) trade agreement.

“After speaking with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, I have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay Tariffs on anything that falls under the USMCA Agreement,” President Trump posted. “This Agreement is until April 2nd.”

“I did this as an accommodation, and out of respect for, President Sheinbaum,” the U.S. president continued. “Our relationship has been a very good one, and we are working hard, together, on the Border, both in terms of stopping Illegal Aliens from entering the United States and, likewise, stopping Fentanyl.”

The White House announced Thursday that President Donald Trump would delay the tariffs on cars from Mexico and Canada after the president met with executives from Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “Reciprocal tariffs will still go into effect on April 2, but at the request of the companies associated with USMCA, the president is giving them an exemption for one month, so they are not at an economic disadvantage.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump as he negotiates with U.S. neighboring countries and seeks to reduce deadly drugs entering our nation.
  • For wisdom for the president as he considers exceptions and exemptions to the tariffs.
